Ben Spiers

Software Developer

Ben is a software developer in the EPAC Data Management team, and reformed former scientist. He studied for a DPhil in Physics at the University of Oxford, during which time he visited the CLF as a user of Gemini Target Area 2 and Vulcan Target Area West. Upon finishing his studies, and having decided academic science wasn’t for him, in late 2021, he joined the CLF to develop software for the EPAC project.
Away from work, and when he can find the time, Ben enjoys messing around with electronics, woodworking, and programming for fun.

Research Interests: High intensity light-matter interactions for ion acceleration – “although I’m no longer a researcher!”
