Laura (preferred pronouns xe/xem) joined the CLF in 2010 as a joint PhD student in Cancer Studies with King’s College London. Since then, xe has developed single-particle tracking assays to study proteins inside live cells, before moving on to spearhead the development of cryo-vEM and cryo-CLEM techniques.
Laura’s current research interests are directed towards the study of structure-function relationships underlying pathological processes in intact biological systems using (cryo-)vEM and (cryo-)CLEM techniques. In particular, xe is interested in the role of endocytosis, membrane contact sites and liquid phase separation in organising cellular signalling in cancer and beyond.
