Ann Fitzpatrick

Ann got her PhD in 2012 from Imperial College and then completed a postdoc at the University of Chicago. Both applied ultrafast and non-linear spectroscopy to the investigation of biomolecules. She then moved to Diamond Light Source, where she developed the laser facilities to conduct laser pump – X-ray probe experiments across a wide range of beamlines. Since joining STFC in 2022, Ann has worked at RAL Space, building and testing optical payloads for CubeSats, as well as developing alignment techniques for large lenses and lens barrels. She is currently working on the Vulcan 20-20 project.
