Kenny Rodgers
Electrical Group Leader
Kenny started his engineering career at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory as an electrical craft apprentice in September 1996. He completed the apprenticeship in August 2000 and went straight to work in the electrical workshop in the CLF. He worked as an electrical technician for just over 4 years, supporting experiments and working on projects and upgrades. A highlight of this role was being involved in the Vulcan Petawatt upgrade, including build and installing the vacuum control systems and building the new capacitor bank.
In 2004, Kenny moved to ISIS to work in the pulsed power team in the Electrical Engineering Group. He worked in ISIS for just over 10 years, working on projects and providing operational support to the pulse power systems. In October 2015, he returned to the CLF as a contractor, working in the electrical controls team. This role again involved lots of operational and experiment support while also working on upgrade projects. In May 2020, he became the interlocks team leader, which was a big change for him, where he managed and coordinated a team to do the work that he had always done himself. In the summer of 2021, he applied for and got the role of Electrical Group Leader, growing my management responsibilities.
