Dave Yeeles

Scientific Software Engineer

Dave joined the CLF in 2024 and works as a scientific software engineer for Octopus. Currently, he is involved in data analysis efforts for low-temperature correlative light and electron microscopy (cryoCLEM). Prior to his current role, Dave worked on simulations of merging black holes and gravitational waves at Academia Sinica Institute of Physics in Taipei. He obtained his MSci in physics at Royal Holloway University of London before moving on to an MSc in theoretical physics at King’s College London, and finally a PhD in astrophysics at Cardiff University, where he worked as part of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration.

Dave’s work focuses on developing novel alignment and correlation software to aid in the preparation of TEM lamellae containing a region of interest identified within super-resolution fluorescence data. He is also working to improve the accuracy of STORM reconstruction techniques under cryogenic conditions using models of fluorescent dipoles in fixed orientations.
