Dave’s research interests include the development of correlative microscopy workflows at high resolution and cryogenic temperatures, including rapid sample freezing, super-resolution cryo-fluorescence microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy at cryogenic temperatures. Dave also participates in the ongoing research programme into cell signalling by the Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor family.

Senior STFC fellow
Dave joined the CLF in 2008 after working on the Synchrotron Radiation Source at Daresbury Laboratory for many years. Dave is a biochemist with expertise in the development and application of imaging and spectroscopy methods for biological research. After serving as LSF Division leader since 2010, Dave took partial retirement in 2024 and is now a member of the team developing techniques and workflows for correlative light and electron microscopy.
