Rajeev Pattathil

Deputy HPL Division Leader

Professor Rajeev Pattathil is a plasma physicist and is currently the Deputy Leader of the High Power Lasers Division and Head of Novel Accelerator Science and Applications. Rajeev supports Cristina as Deputy Technical Director of EPAC, and will lead the EPAC Operations Group when the facility comes online. He is also the Director of the joint UK-India innovation centre (EPIC) based at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) in Hyderabad.

Rajeev obtained his PhD from TIFR Mumbai in 2003 and was an NSERC Research Fellow at the National Research Council in Canada until 2007, when he joined the CLF. He is an associate member of the John Adams Institute, University of Oxford, and an Adjunct Professor of Physics at IIT Madras and TIFR. Rajeev also serves on the advisory boards of several High Power Laser and Accelerator facilities around the world and is the Deputy Coordinator of the Plasma Accelerator Roadmap for European Strategy for Particle Physics that is exploring next-generation technologies for the next phase of CERN.

Rajeev has co-authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications in various fields, including several high impact ones such as Nature-group journals and Physical Review Letters, and retains an active interest in research in intense laser-matter interactions, plasma-based accelerators and nano-plasmonics.
