Veselin Aleksandrov

Laser Scientist

Veselin was educated at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” Bulgaria where, over a period of 10 years, he gained a Bachelor’s in Applied Physics, a Masters in Quantum Electronics and Laser Techniques, and a PhD in Laser Physics.

For a year, Veselin then taught Physics at the “Acad. L. Chakalov” National High School of Science and Mathematics in Sofia before becoming the Manager of Scientific Research for IBPhotonics Ltd. After a couple of years, he then moved to a Post-doctoral Research Assistant post at the High-Power Laser System, ELI-NP, Bucharest, Romania.

In 2020, he joined the Vulcan Laser Group as a Laser Scientist, being an active member of the group despite working remotely, as he was unable to move to the UK at the time due to the COVID pandemic.

Veselin is currently working on the development of pulse stretchers and pulse compressors for the Vulcan 20-20 upgrade project and for the EPAC laser facility.
